On July 2nd 6-10p viewers had the opportunity to view over 30 new pieces of artwork created by Laurie Halvorson.

There will be live music by Stephanie Dorman and of course an appearance by one of Denver's delicious food trucks! Hinterland's unique viewing space is the perfect environment for these encaustic works (encaustic [en-kaw-stik] - adjective: painted with wax and pigment colors fixed with heat). If you can't make the opening night, the show will be open on July 3rd 11am to 5pm for continued viewing. A traditional painter, illustrator, novice writer, and financial analyst, Laurie Halvorson is an inquisitive soul whose left and right brain hemispheres spar for dominance. Her creative acts often reflect this tug of war. Amid the tumult she discovered acceptance of her competing natures, which opened the door to new forms of expression and renewed her creative adventure. Laurie's use of design elements is often reflective of her past residence in Europe and the Middle East. She pushes technique and experimentation to create unique pieces that are emotional "instances" of experience.

"I crave beauty. The nourishing encouragement I receive from beauty boosts my sense of well being. Its silent, arresting power detoxifies our lives, if only for a moment" – Laurie Halvorson
